Lebanon

Lebanon is bringing its ancient healing skills to the global arena as it seeks to become one of the Mediterranean’s leading centers for medical tourism. With Beirut as its urban anchor, this savvy cosmopolitan nation has the ways and means to compete with the best in the booming medical tourism industry. A pleasant year-round climate, beautiful countryside and countless historic attractions ensure a wealth of recuperation options.

Lebanon is well known among global travel circles for being the most sophisticated and cosmopolitan nation in the Middle East. Beirut, once called ‘the Paris of the East,’ is still an incredibly exotic and exciting destination despite the country’s 16-year civil war that damaged much of the capital.

Cosmetic surgery is a major component of medical tourism in Lebanon. Most of the foreign patients come for routine operations like plastic surgery, dental or eye care. Lebanon’s hospitals are also capable of performing specialized procedures such as internal bypass surgery and other technical treatments. Its top clinics and hospitals are equipped to handle the full range of surgical procedures.

Climate

Lebanon has a moderate Mediterranean climate. In coastal areas, winters are generally cool and rainy whilst summers are hot and humid. In more elevated areas, temperatures usually drop below freezing during the winter with heavy snow cover that remains until early summer on the higher mountaintops. Although most of Lebanon receives a relatively large amount of rainfall annually (compared to its arid surroundings), certain areas in north-eastern Lebanon receive little because of rain shadow created by the high peaks of the western mountain range.
